You can buy a graphics card that supports dual monitors or if you just want to have the same picture on both monitors consider a Y-type monitor splitter cable.

Two ways. First, does your computer have a video card or does video come directly off the motherboard? If directly off the motherboard, you need to make sure the computer has an AGP or PCIX-16 slot in it. If not you’ll need to do it this way:

Install another PCI video card (like in the first link). Then just hook another monitor up and boot up. Your Windows login will appear on one monitor, just right click the desktop and go to “properties” and click on the “settings” tab. You’ll see both monitors, with the 2nd being greyed out. Click on the 2nd monitor and check the “Extend my desktop..” box. Done.

If you have a video card, or have an AGP or PCIX16 slot you’ll need a card like in the second link below. Most mid-range cards have two connectors already on them, so just make sure you look at a picture of the card before buying. Some have 1 DSub and 1 DVI. That card should come with an adapter if you only have 2 analog (Dsub) monitors. Plug it in and use the same Windows instructions from above.

Get a higher end video card if you play games.

Hardware: Dual monitor video cards usually have one VGA port and one DVI port so you might need a DVI-to-VGA adapter….(http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=162594&sku=C184-26956)
Video cards that go in your PCI-slot are available…
    here is a good one….http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1520540&CatId=1603

You could get a matched pair of dual-head video cards
that will support up to four monitors if you want
    the prices are very reasonable.
    …thats what I got…a pair of Chaintec’s one AGP and one PCI…..
Software: Windows XP supports up to nine monitors right out of the box, just right-click an empty screen and hit “properties” for painless set-up!

    Personal experience.
