Loading ...I installed win 98 and now my cdrw and my scanner do not work. I have changed drivers and downloaded new.futil
my camera doesn’t work ever. it is not recognized as another drive (actually it should be two drives, one for the card and one for the memory of the camera. I will appreciate the help

on the cdrw you have to swap it out with a regular cd rom. i had the same problem also.just buy a cheap cd rom swap it out install win 98 then after it is done swap them back.

Do you suspect that you may have been hit by some nasty (virus, spyware..) ? Have you installed any new hardware lately, or opened the case for any reason ?? Maybe the cable is somehow unplugged… If you go into Device Manager, can you see a warning on that drive ? (right-click on “My Computer” to access it..)

No version of Windows 98 (98, 98SE, 98ME) sees digital cameras. You have to load the software that came with your camera for Windows 98, then have the camera plugged into the computer, and THEN run the software that came with your camera. The camera’s software does the “downloading” of the pics from your camera, not Windows (like in Win XP).
Also, installing Windows, or any software for that matter, works just as well from an RW drive as it does from a ROM drive. I’ve personally installed Windows 98 from CD & DVD-RW’s.

may be it’s not compatible with 98, you know 98 is a 16bit os, any ways, go to device manager and there scan for hardware changer, might help,

WinXP is more compatible to the hardware specially the branded hardware like canon and HP and so.
It therefore accepts the hardware without the need of drivers bcuz there are set of ideal hardware drivers.
Win98se is not that compatible and you need to update its INF file in the windows folder with new drivers.
Moreover sometimes the new gadgets are not compatible to older version of windows bcuz they are compatible to the winME -2000 and above compatible.
Try to find the drivers install them.
If you dont find them then you cannot use thse gadgets without Win2000 and above
