I am on cable broadband. Is it safe to disable anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall programs while installing the software? If not, what should I do?

Is it necessary to disable programs that reside on the lower taskbar (e.g. QuickTime) also?

I have broadband through TWC and I wanted to know if this cable carried the television signal as well? Or is it dedicated specifically to internet connection?

I know dial up is the slowest and then you have satellite which i think is slower than cable (correct me if i’m wrong) which most people have as the fastest. Then there is i think T1 and T3 which public places have like libraries and colleges.

Just moved to a place where no Cable, DSL, or ISDN is available. Had a HughesNet satellite internet rep come out today who told us satallite is unavailable because our trees block the signal. The trees blocking the signal are illegal to cut down in our state and will result in jail time. Stuck with horrid dial up. Is there ANY faster alternative??

Should I get Charter cable or Dish Network? Which really has the better deal? Is having cable really better than a satellite dish? Ive been getting mixed messages from both….Charter says dish sux, dish says charter sux, I dont have any of the other charter stuff, I have atnt phone and netscape internet, should i get the three charter services and “save more with the bundle”? Or should I keep my services and get Dish?
