What would happen if I tried this Linux command?

I am wondering what would happen if I tried this command under my root account on my computer:

# passwd -l root

Any ideas? Has anyone tried this? I don’t have any other accounts as sudoers.

How do I get rid of the dropdown list from the run command? Start, Run there is a list of recent commands.?

Let me explain: Click on Start, & then Run. How do I get rid of or clear the list of recent commands I entered (ie. msconfig, regedit)?

In XP Pro there is something called Group Policy. It allows you to prevent access to specific programs, removes access to certain things from the Start menu (Control Panel, Windows Explorer, etc.), prevents changing Internet settings, etc.

Many people will have access to this computer, so I’m trying to prevent/remove access to many functions on the computer to prevent people from not using the computer as intended. But I also want to be able to log in as an Admin & have a normal computer.

When people click on Start there will not be much there, because I have either prevented access or hidden the Icons. Most people aren’t going to know how to undo these changes, unless they know about Group Policy. The only normal way a person might figure it out would be to click on Run & choose Group Policy from the dropdown list & undo my changes.

How do you delete a printer installed on a network computer for all users?

I have a network with 130 computers and I have certain network printers that need to be installed for every user on a workstation. For those of you who have dealt with this issue there is a great solution. You use the following command line script (rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n) and it will install any printer that you choose. Here’s the problem. I want to delete a couple of the printers that I added but are no longer used. Is there a global way to delete a printer? Otherwise I have to go in as each user on each computer and delete it.
