802.11g 125 high speed network – Broadcom/Gateway doesn’t reach 125?

Windows XP Home. Buffalo PCI desktop wireless card, 125* capable. Belkin router, 125* capable. Gateway laptop 7422GX, with Broadcom wireless chip set, 125* capable.

In theory, a fully 125* capable environment will reach 125 Mbps. With just the desktop and router on, I get this. Add the laptop, and speeds drop to 54 or less. With just the laptop and router, still 54 (sometimes 48 or 36).

How to get the 125 speed on all? Afterburner setting enabled on desktop. Afterburner and Xpress enabled on laptop.

how can I access my desktop hard drive from my laptop?

Both are windows XP, SP 2 and patched to current status.
Laptop can connect to the internet through router. Just trying to get the data from 1 PC to the other.

What is the difference between a laptop and tablet PC?

I’m a freelance graphic designer and I need to be able to take everything with me for customers as well as doing artwork on. I have been working from a PC desktop so going wireless is new to me. I’m also wondering the average cost after purchase to keep it going. The word “freelance” should tell you that my funds are limited so, just like everybody else, I need a really good setup that’s really cheap!

Please can someone tell me how I can get this website of of my desktop background.?

The entire background is blue and it reads this:

It will not let me change it either. When I click on where it says to click here it takes me to a site to buy something.

What are the best procedures for working with files on both a laptop and desktop?

I got a laptop recently and haven’t figured out the best way to work with files on both. Would you please discuss what procedures to follow? I have a wireless network.

How does the laptop access files on the desktop?

What procedures should I follow so that I don’t get the various versions mixed up? Should I move a file to the laptop and delete it from the desktop? Should I copy a file to the laptop and leave the original on the desktop, then when I put it back on the desktop overwrite the original?

If you can point me to a web site that discusses these things, that would be a good response.
P.S. I’m running Windows XP.
