What type of Internet connection is the fastest you can have at home?

I know dial up is the slowest and then you have satellite which i think is slower than cable (correct me if i’m wrong) which most people have as the fastest. Then there is i think T1 and T3 which public places have like libraries and colleges.

Need Some Advice On Internet Access?

I have satellite internet by WildBlue. At first I liked it because it was a big switch from dial up but here lately I doin’t like it because of the high latency and everything. I want to play games online and stuff and it’s impossible with 1400ms pings. I don’t think there’s anything other than satellite in my area but then again I’m not sure. I live 15 mins from a pretty big town. What other options may I have? What ping times does the connection offer? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. ( I want good pings extremely bad)
my zip is 23942 if that helps
There’s definantly not cable in my area, I’m not so sure about DSL but I doubt it, I live in a very rural area.

How do I change the way I connect…from broadband to dial up>>..?

I’ve been trying to download Aol 9.0 and get rid of this 6.0 and it keeps coming up with messages like Aol failed to properly respond and network connection failed…I think it may have to do something with on the sighn on screen instead of saying dial up it says broadband, and I can’t get rid of it…any ideas what I should do, AOL is not helping they can’t figure it out either..thanks..
I’ve already tried uninstalling AOL and reinstalling it, doesn’t help, could it have something to do with the new modem that just got put in?…
