Many Web sites use newsgroups instead of message boards because they are easier to use.

I keep getting a message that says There is an IP address conflict with another system on this network?
I having computer problems I keep getting a message that says “There is an IP address conflict with another system on this network” and afterwards I loose the internet even though my network connections say I’m still connected. Then I have to go in repair the connection and then the internet works again for a few minutes until I get the message again and then I loose the internet all over again then I have to go back and repair it again and I keep on having to do this so how do I fix this permanently. We are not using a wireless router we are directly connected to the internet straight through the modem however our internet provider is not DSL or cable it is Teton wireless and they use a satellite to bring in the internet to our cable modem. I don’t know if this makes a difference or not. From what i read on the web most people have this problem when they are using a wireless router and they use a WI-FI signal to get the internet and when they do this they get the same type of error.
I found the problem for one I do not have a router so what I did was unplugged the modem from my computer and plugged it into my laptop and from doing this it is what initially cause the problem. After switching them I could not get the internet to connect to my laptop so I switched it back to my computer and that when I started to receive the error. Well apparently because I did switch the connection without going through a router this is what caused the problem. To fix it all I had to do was shut down my computer and the cable modem for a few minutes and then I restarted everything and now no problems. Tech support explained to me that is why it happened because of switching the internet connection from my computer to my laptop and back to my computer again. This caused the modem to assume that there was more then one computer on the network and that they were trying to use the same IP address when there was only one computer on the system.
