Question for the Techies?
This probably isn’t even a tough question but I have to answer it because my Girlfriends grandfather disagreed told me something that doesn’t make since. I was telling him that since we live out of the distance for DSL that satellite is about the only option and I have it. I was telling him about the delay and how it isn’t good for gaming and doesn’t surf nearly as fast as DSL or Cable even though it does download rather fast. He was like Cable comes from satellites. So I am just wondering is it true that Cable TV comes from satellites? If so how come Cable internet has good ping times? Keep in mind I don’t think it comes from Cable internet but I wasn’t going to argue on something I wasn’t to sure on.
In the first sentence I meant ask not answer. Sorry. Thanks.
Need Some Advice On Internet Access?
I have satellite internet by WildBlue. At first I liked it because it was a big switch from dial up but here lately I doin’t like it because of the high latency and everything. I want to play games online and stuff and it’s impossible with 1400ms pings. I don’t think there’s anything other than satellite in my area but then again I’m not sure. I live 15 mins from a pretty big town. What other options may I have? What ping times does the connection offer? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. ( I want good pings extremely bad)
my zip is 23942 if that helps
There’s definantly not cable in my area, I’m not so sure about DSL but I doubt it, I live in a very rural area.
