What the heck… laptop acts like it has stuck keys…?

I am posting for an issue with my husband’s laptop. He has a Toshiba Satellite Laptop and recently it started acting up. If he hasn’t used it in a while, it will start right up and works perfectly for an hour, sometimes more… then it starts acting up. Example: he will be using the internet just fine for a while then he will click on the address bar to go to a website and it will just start typing letters, a random pattern of I, O, and U. He will then turn off the computer and turn it back on and when it gets to the Toshiba screen it will just beep and not go any further. He has tried cleaning the keys and he popped those keys off to clean them, but it hasn’t helped. He said that it doesn’t look like they are stuck though. Any thoughts?

Windows Laptop has a shaky/unstable/twitchy Screen – suggestions?

I have a Toshiba Satellite p25 S509 with Windows XP Home and 512RAM and 100GB hard drive bought at the end of 2003. I use Norton Internet Security 2007 and AVG for virus protection. About 6 months ago I had to have the motherboard replaced because it wasn’t receiving any power from the A/C adapter.

The screen constantly shakes and twitches; when it gets really bad, the top centimeter or two wraps around to the bottom of the screen and anything displayed is illegible. Sometimes, the bottom of the screen is more distorted than the top (it squishes, sort of). Right now it seems to do it more when a few programs are on, that wasn’t always true, however.

I’ve looked around on the internet and I’ve found a few possible causes: the graphics card (I don’t know how to test this possibility out), the a/c adapter (it was bought Dec. 2006), overheating (what to do, what to do?), virus maybe?, the amount of RAM…

Please, give me some advice on how to figure out what is wrong.
Thank you!
I would prefer to try and figure/fix this myself before consulting a business for help… mainly for financial reasons. I have never had a problem with my computer before the motherboard issue and that work was done by Best Buy because I still had a service plan on the computer; that is expired now. But… this problem might be related to that problem? I am good with working on desktop computers and upgrading them but I have never ventured far enough to open up a laptop…
Which drivers? I am updating everything that is in my computer (ie video card) that I can find on the internet… but there’s nothing external attached to my laptop (or anything I’ve installed on this computer for that matter). Instead of a new screen, could I use a monitor to fix the problem temporarily or would the problem carry over?

No Packets Received Form Wireless Network?

i have a toshiba satellite pro 4600 that had windows 98se installed on it, then i updated it to xp sp2. Everything worked fine except the wifi. I installed the latest drivers for the toshiba wireless lan mini pci card, but still no connecting. It said “Limited or no connectivity”.
I then went into the internet protocall setup and manually entered the ip adderss and gateway. It then connected to the router, but no packets were received.
is it not receiveing a dhcp?

Thanks
