Just reinstalled windows. Have a Lexmark X1180 colour inkjet printer (one of those ones with the scanner integrated)

Lost my installation CD

Gone onto the Lexmark website – cannot find drivers for x1180, but found X1100 series. Call to Lexmark Tech Support (stupid menu system, call took 2 minutes 40 seconds, yet I only spoke to a human for 10 seconds to confirm the following) said that it was the X1100 series driver that I needed.

Downloaded and installed per instructions (extract to C:blah-blah-blah and then use Windows Add Printer Wizard and point the “Have Disk…” to this area) – it has problems installing it

Anyone advise, please?

(Gee, how stupid can Windows and drivers get?? Something that should take minutes continues to totally waste my life – I’ve got better things to do than sit here wrestling with stupid windows….)

My broadband provider tells me to turn off PC first before switching off the modem, But this is annoying, as I end up turning the PC off and then on just to get off the internet. My PC is Celeron (R) 2.5Ghz, and 256KB RAM. I am using WindowsXP.

I ‘m using zone alarm security suite(firewall) in windows xp and zonealarm free version(firewall) in windows 98se.In XP i tried to keep the security level of internet zone to low and also allowed my firewall to leave sancharnet.in/dataone.in to use 3rd party cookies but still i can only log in to site but when i try to check my usage info i get a message in status bar of the page “Error in Page” but when i try to access the same site in windows 98 i can check my usage info with out any problem. what might be the problem in XP and IE6.

I use windowsxp servicepack2,When I type any URL in IE6 I get proxy settings error.I made all the IE setings as defaults even then there is no use I get “The page can not be displayed” error. What is the problem? please help me.

Bought new desktop to replace previous one (Win 98SE) which worked well with the scanner. When I tried installing on the new desktop XP system, installation was blocked, citing need to establish capability for XP. Search via Yahoo for Scannmaker 3600 almost succeeded but my attempt to download failed.
